A surprise visit was held on Sunday night in the home of Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita. At about 7:30pm, HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Wosner Shlita, Bal Shevet Halevi arrived. As the word of the visit spread hundreds of curiously seekers arrived at the Posek HaDor�s home in the hope of obtaining a look at the Rav.
When Rav Wosner asked Rav Elyashiv how he was doing, the latter replied �I am in need of much Heavenly mercy�, explaining he continues to feel generally weak. �Despite this, can we learn chavrusa� questioned Rav Wosner?
Rav Elyashiv smiled and responded �Nu Nu� and the two parted.
Aides to the Posek HaDor asked Rav Wosner if they should tell Rav Elyashiv about the death of his daughter, Rebitzen Batsheva Esther Kanievsky ob�m, to which Rav Wosner stated absolutely not.
After the visit with the Posek HaDor, Rav Wosner visited with members of the family sitting shiva for the rebitzen.

Just curious, what will they tell the Rav if he asks why he has not heard from his daughter? Its one thing if R”L his mind is not active but from all accounts, it is apparent that his mind is active, so won’t he question that?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason Rav Wosner visited Rav Elyashiv was to be ???? ??? him without Rav Elyashiv realizing it. Just a thought.

Since Rav elyashiv isn’t an avel since he didn’t have a shmuah. I don’t think there is an inyan to be menachem avel that isn’t an avel.

Menachem Avel means Menachem Avel. If lehalocho Rav Elyashiv shlit”a is not an Avel R”L then rav Wosner shlit”a isnt being menachem him. The visit may have been just regarding Rav Elyashiv’s health as mentioned in the above article.
