Gaza sources report a split in the Izzadin el-Kassam military wing of Hamas in Gaza.
Haaretz reports that Gaza sources report that they attempted to oust Izzadin el-Kassam leader Ahmed al-Jabri and replace him with Imad Akel but the move failed, resulting in a split, two factions within the Izzadin military wing of Hamas.
Apparently, al-Jabri is independent, unwilling to take instructions or fall in line with Gaza�s Hamas government, resulting in an autonomous operation.
This became increasingly apparent during recent weeks when Gaza police attempted to arrest a number of Izzadin el-Kassam members on suspicion of criminal activity but they resisted, leading to shootouts.
