Great Great Great Grandchild Born To Maran Rav Elyashiv Shlita

elyashiv3.jpgA child was born on Shabbos morning in Bnei Brak’s Maynei HaYeshua Hospital which in its own right is not truly significant since the hospital brings dozens of children into the world daily.

This baby however has lineage, connected to many of today’s Gedolei HaDor. The child is reported to be the first grandchild of a great-grandchild of Maran HaGaon Rav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita. If that was not enough, the baby is also linked to Maran Rav A. L. Shteinman Shlita and Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita.

The child is Baby ben Yonasan and Devorah Honigsberg. The father’s grandfather, HaRav Gedalyahu Honigsberg is the son-in-law of Rav Schrage Shteinman, son of Maran Rav Shteinman Shlita, and son-in-law of Rav Kanievsky Shlita. Rav Kanievsky is Rav Elyashiv’s son-in-law, bringing this little boy into a unique Torah yichus and lineage.

I believe there is a bit of a mistake. The fathers “father” is a son-in-law of rav shraga shteinman. The lineage is as follows. Rav eliashiv’s son-in-law is reb chaim kanievsky. His son-in-law is bav shraga shteinman( who is son of reb aron laib shteinman). His son-in-law is reb gedalia honigsberg. His son-in-law yonoson had a baby who is bli ayin hara the great great great grandchild of rav eliyashiv.

To number 10: no, the baby is a great great grandson to both rav shteinman and reb chaim kanievsky. Rav eliyashiv is one generation before. Rav shteinman came from europe /brisk/ switzerland. He did not marry as young as the people in eretz yisroel. The steipler’s shita was that yungerleit marry before 20 years old and the girls even younger. If you go to bnei berak, you will see that they are getting married very young and this is why you are able to see 6 generations.

I made a mistake. Yonason is a son of reb gedalia honigsberg not a son-in-law as I wrote before.

Choosing a sandek: only way rav eliyashiv will be sandek is if they bring the baby to yerushalayim. The baby’s great grandfathers are aalso great people in their own right. On the honigsberg side, rabbi honigsberg is a r”m in slabodka and reb shraga shteinman is the rosh hayeshiva of yeshivas kehilas yaakov. Reb shraga also the eidim of reb chaim kanievsky is a rising star. He is not yet known but in bnei berak it is known that he is a huge tzaddik. He follows in the footsteps of his father.

That this child has a living great great great grandfather is even more amazing. Mazal tov to his entire mishpacha.
