PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) told a Bethlehem Fatah Conference that he genuinely wants peace, but reserves the right to turn to resistance in the future should terror once again serve their objectives.
Addressing the audience of over 2,000, Abbas blamed Israel for the stalled diplomatic efforts in the region, insisting the PA is a genuine partner yearning for peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The Fatah organizers ahead of the conference also stated they do not plan to amend the charter to recognize Israels legitimate right to exist as a Jewish state.
The conference will also elect its 21-seat central committee, the ruling body of the Fatah faction.
