Gafne responded, pointing out he did not participate in the vote but only signed after it obtained a majority in committee. He added that state law prohibits importing non-kosher meat so in essence, it might demand removing the non-kosher items from the tax customs rate book since the items are not kosher by any definition of the word.

What is a “Treif Tax” (I can guess, but I shouldn’t have to)?
Who is “Gafne”?
If items were removed from the “rate customs book” woud that mean they would not be taxed but still would be sold?
