We Don’t know what genetic defect causes EVERY case of intellectual disability. Some we do know and these fall into “neat” cases of deletion/substitution etc of specific genetic material. Other cases were exposed to some insult like FAS or hypothyroidism . Still others we just don’t know

There are many cases where we just haven’t identified the cause yet. That doesnt mean it isnt there
