Here is my take on what is causing the shidduch crisis.
1. The girls want boys with lots of money, good looks and who learn a mile a minute. They want a large home and a Lexus in the driveway, just for starters. Girls today are not interested in a boy of modest means and average looks if it means starting out in a tiny apartment even if the boy is a gentleman with excellent midos. Girls want the world handed to them immediately. They have completely unrealistic expectations.
2. The boys want supermodels – beautiful women with flawless skin, perfect teeth and smiles and amazing figures. Boys today are not interested in a girl with average looks, with maybe a bit of a weight issue even if the girl is aidel and kind and has excellent midos. Boys want arm candy. They have completely unrealistic expectations.
