Hamas is the one with the weapons. Asking what the government would do would be like asking (pertaining to the USA) whether the House of Representatives will disarm, rather than asking if the armed forces will disarm. The primary function of the “new” Gaza government will be to carry out the duties that the previous elected government was doing, e.g. protecting and assisting Hamas.
