Hi.
Is that a psak you received, a svora of yours or that you heard, something you derived from Choshen Mishpat, etc?
I don’t myself know the halacha if they had replied that they didn’t allow it, but my svara in the following three levels of sharing would be:
1) The account owner logs on, someone else reads the articles – that would be the same as your example of lending a purchased publication.
2) Giving one individual the User ID / Password – tricky; was the account set up “al tnai” that this not be done? Is it then genaivas daas? Does whether or not the other person would otherwise pay for the info enter into the cheshbon?
3) Making the User ID / Password widely available – this seems to me a clear case of creating a hefsid for the publication.
If you or anyone else knows the halocha, pratim, psakim and mekoros regarding these questions I’d be interested.
