If there are known molesters that have been protected by the “community”, then those people who covered it up should be shamed as well.
And I don’t care what people say the first call is to the police, Rabbi’s do not make the law nor are they allowed to prevent people from calling the authorities, last time I checked this was called obstruction of justice…a punishable offence under the law.
