I would cry and rush to see my Rebbe to make it right. Doing anything else would expose to myself that I was a fraud.
I know a posek who gave several warning to a “group” of Yidden… You don’t fix this gross injustice then I will, he told them. They ignored – intentionally refused, they sent word that they would do nothing. The posek acted just as he had warned them he would.
He was summoned to “their” beis din after he did what he told them he would do. This posek was not under the auspices of their beis din, so he didn’t have to appear, but he did. The Din asked why he chose to come. He said, all my life I learned about, supported and promoted our system so if I didn’t come when summoned I wouldn’t be me.
They found him guilty, gave him his penalty, all of which he did not have to accept. However he did so with pride… If he had done anything else, then the greater harm would have been done to him by his own hand, by his obvious acute lack of Yiras Shemayim.
For the most part we are all observant people who post here…if I found out today that I was not Jewish, like the posek above, I would make it right, no matter the difficulties, otherwise I wouldn’t be true to who I am as a human being.
And to who I am… I can only thank HaKodesh Barachu for placing me with all the wonderful Yidden who supported me in becoming the an I am… What a shame if I walked away because of some mistake made by others… And what a great mistake they made… From what we all know, who would want to live like a goy?
